El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar el proceso de recreación de las identidades de las familias transfronterizas de la región Tijuana-San Diego, a partir de sus prácticas culturales e interacciones sociales. Las familias transfronterizas son grupos familiares de estructura diversa, ubicados en la zona fronteriza y, que dado el cruce cotidiano de por lo menos uno de sus miembros, mantienen relaciones familiares, emotivas y afectivas a través de la frontera geopolítica por medio de interacciones sociales en ambos países. Estas interacciones les permiten desarrollar conocimientos y habilidades producto de la relación intensa con las dos sociedades, y es lo que las diferencia de las familias que, aún ubicadas en la frontera, poseen un nivel menor de interacción con la otra sociedad. El proceso transfronterizo, está ubicado geográficamente en la zona de frontera, donde se da una negociación cultural de intercambio anclado a un contexto de subalternidad entre México y Estados Unidos y que tiene que ver con el acto de interpretación y reapropiación de los elementos culturales de la otra cultura. Esta negociación impacta en las identidades, pues estas tienen núcleos duros con periferias móviles, que permiten la redefinición identitaria. Para identificar este proceso, nos basamos en la técnica de la teoría fundamentada y utilizamos entrevistas a profundidad aplicadas a trece miembros de cinco casos de familias de origen mexicano, que viven en Tijuana y conocimos aspectos de la vida cotidiana familiar que se han visto modificadas a partir de la actividad transfronteriza.
The objective of the present work is to analyze the process of recreation of the identities of the transborder families of the Tijuana-San Diego region, from their cultural practices and social interactions. Transborder families are family groups of diverse structure, located in the border zone, and given the daily crossing of at least one of their members, maintain family, emotional and affective ties beyond the geopolitical border by means of social interactions in both countries. These interactions allow them to develop knowledge and abilities product of the intense relation with both societies, and it is what differences them from the families who, even though are located in the border area have a lower level of interaction with the other society. The transborder process is geographically located in the border region, where there is a cultural negotiation, anchored to a subaltern context between Mexico and the United States, related to the act of interpretation and reappropriation of cultural elements from one culture to the other. This negotiation impacts identities; which have hard centers and mobile peripheries that allow identity redefinition. In order to identify this process, we based the analysis on the grounded theory technique by interviewing thirteen members of five case studies of Mexican origin transborder families who live in Tijuana. Through this process we were able to acknowledge every day aspects of the family life that have been modified because of the transborder activity.
