Professor Sarre has been a law professor at the Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico Aut\u00f3nomo  de M\u00e9xico (ITAM ) in Mexico  City since 1977. His expertise is centered on  international human rights, serving as a member of the United Nations  Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhumane or Degrading  Treatment or Punishment. As well as acting as a representative for the academic  sector on the Secretar\u00eda del Consejo de Coordinaci\u00f3n para la Implementaci\u00f3n del  Sistema de Justicia Penal (SETEC).
