Laura Ju\u00e1rez Gonz\u00e1lez is a current Visiting Fellow at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies. She is also an assistant professor of Economics at ITAM in Mexico City. Laura received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006. Her research fields are Labor and Public Economics. Her work examines the effect of government programs on the decisions of individuals and households, with a special focus on the elderly. Her dissertation won a special mention in the 2006 National Banamex Prize. In 2007, she was awarded a three-year young researcher grant by the Mexican Science and Technology Council (CONACYT) to study the well-being and economic decisions of the elderly in Mexico. In 2010, Laura became a member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico (SNI-CONACYT).
