{"id":1466,"date":"2010-01-11T12:44:20","date_gmt":"2010-01-11T19:44:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.colef.mx\/elmuro\/?p=1466"},"modified":"2010-01-11T12:44:20","modified_gmt":"2010-01-11T19:44:20","slug":"denisse-dresser-ofrecera-conferencia-en-el-instituto-de-las-americas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.colef.mx\/elmuro\/denisse-dresser-ofrecera-conferencia-en-el-instituto-de-las-americas\/","title":{"rendered":"Denisse Dresser ofrecer\u00e1 conferencia en el Instituto de las Am\u00e9ricas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wednesday, January 20, 2010<br \/>\nThe Need for Reform in Mexico<br \/>\n6:30 to 7:45 p.m.<br \/>\nA joint event with the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies, UCSD<br \/>\nWeaver Conference Center, Institute of the Americas<\/p>\n<p>Denise Dresser is a well-known and respected political analyst in Mexico.<\/p>\n<p>She is a full-time professor of political science at the Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico Aut\u00f3nomo de M\u00e9xico (ITAM), and has been a visiting researcher since 1999 at the Pacific Council on International Policy, where she directed the \u201cNorth American Futures\u201d Project.<br \/>\n<!--more-->Dresser has been a visiting research fellow at the Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies, and a senior visiting fellow at the Inter-American Dialogue in Washington D.C.<br \/>\nDresser is an accomplished author on themes such as democracy, PRI dominance, economics, poverty alleviation and neopopulist solutions to neoliberal problems, and has authored numerous articles on Mexican politics and U.S.-Mexico relations. <!--more--><br \/>\nTwo of her books are: \u201cWhat Every Citizen Would Prefer (Not) to Know About His Country,\u201d a political satire written in collaboration with novelist Jorge Volpi; and \u201cCries and Whispers: Unexpected Experiences of 38 Women\u201d (a second volume that includes 39 other women has just been published).<br \/>\nDresser is a syndicated columnist for the Mexican weekly Proceso , and writes a political column for the Mexican newspaper Reforma .
