\nThe objectives of this event are:
\n– To acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of the past thirty years since the return to democracy in Latin America
\n– To assess the empirical results of this period by focusing on four principal types of change:<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. The evolution of democracy itself over the past three decades<\/li>\n
  2. Material progress in human welfare as measured through indicators of improvements in income, education, health, life expectancy, gender equity, housing, and infrastructure services<\/li>\n
  3. Progress in the formulation and implementation of development policies<\/li>\n
  4. Progress in political and human rights<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This event is based on research sponsored by CLACSO and the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) through a program of Twelve Research Fellowships supporting Fellows from Latin American countries to write papers on the above subjects.<\/p>\n
