The Mexico 2012 Elections Panel is the opening of the \u00abLegislaturas en M\u00e9xico y las Am\u00e9ricas<\/em>\u00bb conference that is being held on October 18-19.\u00a0For more information please click here.<\/a><\/p>\n

On July 1, 2012, after six years under President Felipe Calder\u00f3n, Mexico held elections at the national level and in 14 states. The victory by Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto and the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) marks the return of the party to the presidency after 12 years. The campaign also highlighted the new role of social media in campaigns which helped foment the #Soy132 movement. The panelists will provide their unique perspectives on the elections as well as the implications for domestic politics and U.S.-Mexican relations.<\/p>\n
